ArcelorMittal Distribución Iberia is consolidating its operations in the central region of Spain with a new 26,300 m² distribution centre in Madrid featuring XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel, 1,300 square meters of solar panels on its roof and chargers for electric vehicles.
Consolidating all distribution activity in a single building
The new facilities, whose construction began in March 2024, cover a total area of 26,300 m². They will make possible to consolidate the activities and services currently provided by the Getafe and Coslada centres in one single location.
The new centre will be equipped with new technologies in the cranes, an AGV for intralogistics, four saws for cutting long products, including two saws fitted with drills, as well as a plasma & drill/mill and cutting table and a state-of-the-art shot-blasting and painting facility. On the logistics side, a fleet of ten trucks, including two powered by gas and one fully electric, will ensure reliable, on-time delivery to the customers.

Digitalisation across operations
The new distribution centre in Madrid also reflects ArcelorMittal Distribución Iberia’s commitment to digital transformation, with the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to enhance efficiency, traceability and customer experience. Industrial operations will benefit from the use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices to capture real-time data from machines and overhead cranes, improving maintenance and operational control. An Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) will contribute to streamlined material handling. The Digistic system will ensure complete digital traceability of products, replacing paper processes with handheld scanners, tablets and smart labelling across the warehouse. On the commercial side, the company is developing automated offer generation tools and continues to expand the capabilities of its e-commerce platform, ArcelorMittal e-steel, to provide customers with a faster, more convenient purchasing experience.
Sustainability at the core
Sustainability, one of ArcelorMittal’s core values, has been a key aspect of the project since its initial design.
Twenty chargers will be available for commercial vehicles and one for a two tractor unit used for freight transport. Moreover, more than 1,300 square meters of solar panels with an installed capacity of 300 kWp will be installed on the roof of the new building.

Finally, operations at the new facilities in Madrid will meet the highest international standards, holding ISO 9001 and CE1090 certifications for quality and processing activities, as well as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications for Health & Safety and Environmental Management.
The new centre reflects ArcelorMittal Distribución Iberia’s commitment to advanced service, greater efficiency, and more sustainable operations for the future. It will be fully operational end of the quarter of 2026.
