Plasteurop adopts XCarb® green steel certificates for most of its cleanrooms

Plasteurop is one of Europe’s leading producers of cleanrooms for technology, pharma, and biotechnology applications. The company is constantly looking for ways to improve its sustainability performance and has recently decided to purchase ArcelorMittal’s XCarb® green steel certificates. By the end of 2022, Plasteurop will buy XCarb® green steel certificates for most of its Estetic® Clean organic coated steel used in its cleanroom panels.

“Our plan is to pass the certificates to the end users of our products,” says Philippe Calland, President of Plasteurop. “The customers we supply have very high corporate sustainability values. XCarb® green steel certificates will enable them to reduce their Scope 3 emissions.”

Plasteurop is already taking action to reduce the carbon footprint of its own operations. “For example, we source all of our raw materials as close as we can to our production facility to minimise transport emissions,” explains Philippe Calland. “We are also changing our products to use more sustainable components. And we are building a new zero-emissions facility to reduce the impact of our operations.”

Philippe Calland believes that creating a more sustainable world is up to everyone: “We hope that our purchase of XCarb® green steel certificates will help our customers to build cleaner and more sustainable constructions. That’s why we have decided not to charge our customers an additional fee for the XCarb® green steel certificates.”

ArcelorMittal’s Estetic® Clean organic coated steel is used to manufacture cleanroom panels. The cleanrooms are exported across Europe and around the world. By the end of 2022, most of Plasteurop cleanrooms will be produced from ArcelorMittal steel with XCarb® green steel certificates.

Plasteurop’s cleanrooms are used to produce high-tech products, pharmaceuticals, and medical equipment.
