First XCarb^® deliveries for Indaux’s new Flysch drawers

Indaux has made a strategic commitment to the use of XCarb^® recycled and renewably produced hot dip galvanised steel, manufactured by ArcelorMittal, for the production of its new Flysch drawer at its Getaria facilities.

Following a collaborative engineering process to develop steels specifically adapted to Indaux’s requirements, ArcelorMittal has delivered an initial order of XCarb^® recycled and renewably produced steel with Ultra Smooth zinc coated surface to Flejes Especiales, who is responsible for cutting the material into strips and subsequently supplying it to Indaux.

The XCarb^® recycled and renewably produced steel results in a 70% reduction in CO₂ emissions during manufacturing when compared to steel produced via the conventional steelmaking process. This is achieved through an Electric Arc Furnace manufacturing process, utilising high levels of scrap, and using only renewable electricity for steelmaking in the electric arc furnace. This reduction in emissions is clearly outlined in the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) provided with the XCarb^® steel. The new Indaux Flysch drawer seamlessly integrates sustainability and functionality, using XCarb^® steel as the ideal baseline for an environmentally conscious manufacturing process, without compromising on innovation or design excellence.
