La Parisienne loves low carbon-emissions steel
The new trapezoidal roofing sheet range, “La Parisienne”, just launched by Ateliers 3S, uses exclusively ArcelorMittal’s XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel, resulting in a 67% reduction in the carbon footprint compared to the conventional blast furnace production method.
Roofing sheets are well-known for their ease of installation, fire safety, light weight, affordability, and versatility. They are increasingly being used in residential projects due to the greater creativity they allow architects.
Ateliers 3S has been inventing and manufacturing highly innovative and aesthetic façade systems together with architects, for more than 14 years, and is now launching its first roofing range, La Parisienne.
For their new roofing range, Ateliers 3S sought a flat steel specially designed for roofing, with a low carbon footprint, high durability, excellent aesthetics, and above-average rigidity.
ArcelorMittal, Ateliers 3s’ steel partner since the company was founded, suggested its Granite® Storm offering - a highly durable, attractive, anti-slip, colour-coated steel developed for roofing solutions. An additional benefit is that it is available in ArcelorMittal’s proprietary XCarb® low carbon-emissions steel together with a high yield strength. La Parisienne was born.
La Parisienne is a new steel roofing sheet designed to resemble traditional Parisian roofing with a sleek, modern look, in an impressive pre-painted steel 50μm thickness, providing a 30-year guarantee.
Traditionally, steel roofing sheets have been available in basic colours. La Parisienne introduces six aesthetically pleasing colours, all part of the Esprit Zinc palette, with a unique velvety texture.
La Parisienne is lightweight and modular, allowing for easy installation on complex roofing. It is suitable for various types of roofing, and is self-supporting, with the steel roofing sheet providing resistance to climate conditions and bearing from one purlin to another. This feature allows for greater design flexibility, with the product being used on roofs with a minimum slope of 5%.
La Parisienne has been designed with high-quality finishes. The use of perforated closures allows for the creation of discreet and ventilated ridges that match the aesthetic style of La Parisienne.

With its refined flat surfaces, ultra-matte zinc-look colourways and discreet fixing systems, La Parisienne offers the same aesthetic appeal as traditional Paris-style zinc roofing, along with the speed and ease of installation of steel-roofing systems.

Granite® Storm is a pre-painted steel roofing with a textured matte finish, particularly suitable for roofs where aesthetics and durability are key assets.
It is an ideal alternative to traditional tiled roofs, offering the highest levels of robustness and long-lasting performance. The paint system remains robust even after forming, with non-peeling of the paint film guaranteed.
The processing tolerance of Granite® Storm has been thoroughly tested, with its highly flexible coating allowing for forming to create both new designs and traditional looks.
The product is highly resistant to UV radiation, providing colour stability over time. Its textured surface has also an extra advantage for roofs supporting photovoltaic panels, as it reduces the risk of slipping and provides better resistance to scratches. Its guarantee period is aligned with the expected lifetime of solar panels.

Low carbon-emissions and high strength steels deliver double benefit
XCarb® steel offers a substantial reduction in carbon footprint at manufacturing stage.
Additionally, the high yield strength of the steel substrate of La Parisienne offers even greater carbon footprint efficiency, as it optimises the consumption of steel.
Altogether, the combination of both features allows La Parisienne to exhibit a 67% reduction in carbon footprint, compared with the traditional blast furnace production route.
XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel is produced in an electric arc furnace (EAF) using high levels of scrap and 100-percent renewable electricity.
