Akyapak's E-NG machine showcases a new application for XCarb® heavy plates

At EuroBLECH 2026 in Hanover, Akyapak showcased its E-NG (Electric New Generation) 4-roll plate rolling machine, featuring XCarb® recycled and renewably produced heavy plates supplied by ArcelorMittal through ArcelorMittal RZK Çelik Servis Merkezi.

From left to right: Denis Parein, Commercial Head of Heavy Plates at ArcelorMittal Europe, and Yavuz Akyapak, International Sales Group Manager at Akyapak, at EuroBLECH 2026 alongside the E-NG machine built with XCarb® recycled and renewably produced heavy plates.

Designed for small-scale plate bending applications and capable of processing plates up to two metres wide, the machine combines innovative equipment design with low carbon-emissions steel solutions. The machine's main body and side supports were manufactured using XCarb® recycled and renewably produced heavy plates in grade S355J2+N, supplied by ArcelorMittal through its joint venture, ArcelorMittal RZK Çelik Servis Merkezi.

Developed by Turkish metal-forming machine manufacturer Akyapak, the E-NG model is part of the company's next generation of fully electric machines. Built with 100% electric components and requiring no hydraulic systems, the machine has been designed to help improve energy efficiency and support low carbon-emissions manufacturing operations.

The project demonstrates how collaboration across the value chain, from steel production and distribution to machine manufacturing, can help bring more sustainable solutions to industrial equipment manufacturing. By combining advanced machine engineering with low carbon-emissions steel, Akyapak has created a machine that showcases the potential of reducing emissions not only in industrial processes, but also in the equipment used to support them.

The prototype was on display throughout EuroBLECH 2026, providing visitors with an opportunity to see first-hand how innovation in both steelmaking and machine design can contribute to the transition towards more sustainable manufacturing.
