ArcelorMittal presented sustainable and circular steel solutions at the BAU trade fair in Munich

At BAU 2025, the world's leading trade fair for building materials, which took place in Munich from 13 to 17 January 2025, ArcelorMittal presented its product range for the entire construction industry, resource-saving examples and steel solutions with a significantly reduced carbon footprint. 

Granite®, up to 40 years guaranteed

Granite® is the ideal prepainted steel for roof-mounted or building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). The type of system and environment define the right coating to be used (from 45 to 75µm) to guarantee a lifetime from 20 up to 40 years.

The entire Granite® range can be proposed as XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel. By using a minimum of 75-percent scrap steel and 100-percent renewable electricity, the result is a product with a 62-percent lower carbon footprint than steel produced via the traditional blast furnace route. The product is also available with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) which has been independently verified.

Magnelis®, leader for corrosive and aggressive environments

Magnelis® is a worldwide leader in protective metallic coated steel for corrosive and aggressive environments. Very popular for solar mounting structures, Magnelis® has also dozens of key applications in the building sector, for structural applications (composite floors, purlins & rails,…) as well as non-structural components of HVAC (ducts, air treatment units, heat pumps….) and electrical components (cable management, cabinets…) or for suspensions, partitions, etc.

Magnelis® is also available as low-carbon steel, offering a reduction in the carbon footprint by up to 70%, compared to conventionally produced steel.

Magnelis®, as pre-galvanised steel, can now be used for ventilated facades substructures according to the newly revised DIN 18516-1 standard!

It is now possible to use Magnelis®, the best-in-class protective metallic coating for steel, with self-healing properties, as a genuine alternative to batch galvanised steel, aluminium or stainless steel. Magnelis® for facades substructures provides savings in time and cost compared with post-galvanisation. Magnelis® is also available in combination with high strength steel S550GD-HyPer® to reduce weight or increase load and span. Let’s re-engineer your façade structures together!
