Everybody in the Netherlands wants Magnelis®!
The refurbishment in construction is being very active in the Netherlands, where initial wooden basements of thousands of private houses have to be replaced, and with constructions on unstable subsoil, both situations where steel profiles made of Magnelis® appear to be an ideal solution. On April 20, at KS Profiel facility in Moerdijk (Netherlands) the Bouwen Met Staal association organised a seminar on the theme of the cold-rolled profile solutions for new construction and refurbishments. More than 60 participants from Dutch construction and engineering companies participated.
On the agenda of the day, two stories included the use of Magnelis® by ArcelorMittal as an innovative alternative to brick and concrete:
A basement renovation, for which steel profiles made of Magnelis® appeared as a cost-effective alternative to concrete. Easy to customise, much lighter thus easier to bring and install, price-effective, highly protected against corrosion and designed to last decades, their recent fast development proves they have broken the traditional habit of favouring concrete.
An extension on unstable subsoil, for which a lightweight and self-supporting steel structure made of use of Magnelis® appeared to be the ideal solution. Among its advantages: a quick construction for a reduced budget, its outstanding resistance to corrosion, the avoidance of a range of natural problems such as termites and moisture, the wall thickness of the profiles which allowed to add insulation easily, ensuring excellent energy values.
