From 4-7 June 2014 the 7th World Perforating Conference took place in Barcelona, Spain. It is a global conference of metal perforators which takes place every 3 years, where they can meet network, and learn about innovations from suppliers. Players of the perforation industry are grouped into the International Perforators Association and into EUROPERF at European level.
This event was a perfect opportunity for ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products to promote Magnelis®. Jérôme Guth from our business development team presented Magnelis® as the breakthrough coated steel for perforated applications. With the excellent edge protection provided by the self-healing effect of our ZAM coating, Magnelis® triggered a lot of interest.
Several contacts were initiated which will be followed by further dedicated visits, sampling or quotations.
Perforated steels are made through the metal stamping and sheet metal manufacturing process. Sheet metal materials include steel, aluminium, stainless steel, bronze, brass, titanium, and so on. It may be sheet or plate with round holes punched in it or expanded metal.
Perforated materials are very versatile. From lightweight decorative elements to load-bearing structural components, perforated steels offer unique opportunities to combine strength, functionality and beauty.
Perforated steels are also an excellent means of achieving sustainable design objectives. Perforated sunshades and sunscreens provide privacy for building occupants without blocking the view. And they offer a comfortable level of natural lighting during daylight hours while deflecting heat to reduce the load on the HVAC system. Perforated canopies, facades and cladding can also be used to help control interior climate and save energy.
Perforated steels are used for a vast range of applications by many industries. Below a few examples within our industry:
