  • Cost effective steel solutions

Intersolar Europe

Successful participation to Intersolar Europe in Munich from 10 to 12 June 2015

Once Again this year, the teams dedicated to the solar industry were present at Intersolar Europe. The eye-catching stand gave the opportunity to the visitors to discover ArcelorMittal's full range of products & solutions for the solar Industry:

  • Magnelis® : the best material for steel structures of solar installations (ground mounted or roof top) as it combines
    • exceptional corrosion resistance, even on cut edges
    • Excellent corrosion protection in soil
    • Excellent abrasion resistance
    • Cost effectiveness
  • Tailor-made co-engineering services and full project management services and partnership

The stand also offered to visitors the opportunity to touch and feel Magnelis® sample profiles used in solar mounting structures.

On June 11th, the ArcelorMittal team and visitors had the opportunity to exchange on the stand with Ioannis-Thomas Theologitis, Senior Technology Advisor at Solar Power Europe, who presented some highlights of the Global Market Outlook 2015.

“Solar power is now broadly recognized as a cost competitive, reliable and sustainable energy source, and it could grow in Europe by 80 % by 2019. 178 GW of Solar Power are now installed in the world” explained Mr Theologitis.

Dörte Reinke, solar business development for ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products, presented her view on the evolution of the solar industry: “The current changes create new challenges, and the strong cost reduction of modules over the last years has shifted the focus on other components of solar projects such as the structures. More and more mounting structures are nowadays considering steel with Magnelis® instead of aluminium and post-galvanization for technical and economic reasons.”

“The growing number of projects in desertic areas pushes towards the need of very resilient structures, especially against corrosion and abrasion, and this explains the fast growing success of Magnelis®” added Geert Van Heirseele, responsible for Magnelis® at ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products.
