Properties
Weldable fine grain structural steels are in compliance with the EN 10025-4:2004 standard, which defines four levels of mechanical properties. Each grade can be obtained with guaranteed impact properties at -20°C (M grades), or for low-temperature applications at -50°C (ML grades).
Products that have undergone a Charpy test at -60°C in the transverse direction may be delivered after prior agreement.
Advantages
Weldable fine grain structural steels are thermomechanically rolled, which gives improved welding performance compared with equivalent normalised steels.
Applications
These steels are used for welded parts that have to withstand high levels of strain. Typical applications are bridges, pylons and other architectural structures.
Since 1 July 2013, the Construction Products Regulation (Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011 – CPR) has required that CE marking be affixed to all products delivered in accordance with a harmonised standard (e.g. EN 10025). This CE marking guarantees, for the uses defined in the standard, the properties described in the declaration of performance submitted by the manufacturer.
