At bauma 2025, held in Munich in April, all the entities of ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products producing and transforming high strength and wear-resistant steels for the machinery industry were on-hand at the exhibition: the flat products division, Industeel, the tubular products division, and delegates from the steel service and distribution centres.
Sustainability was a key theme for the 34th bauma. The 2040 Paris climate target is aiming to reduce CO2e emissions by 90%, impacting all industries.
Electrification trends are leading to lower payloads, necessitating weight reduction in many equipments. In this context, reducing manufacturing costs and time-to-market while maintaining performances is vital. Equipment manufacturers have to comply with increasingly strict safety regulations, and at the same time ensure durability and easy maintenance. Using the right materials and designs is part of the solution.

Most of the exchanges with our visitors were about our Amstrong® and Amstrong® Ultra structural plates, and their “proven performance” as ArcelorMittal’s response to the challenges of our customers.
Amstrong® proven performance: a mix of features of our steel, its quality standards, outstanding dimensional range and availability through our 27 agencies in 21 countries, and our 100 steel service centres and distributors, all supported by the Group’s unique technical and R&D capabilities.
Our coils and sheets ranges from 235 to 960 MPa in strength, up to 2000 mm wide and up to 20 millimetre thickness. These grades allow for strong and efficient designs with significant weight reductions: up to 20% for a dipper arm, 24% for an operator cabin, 40% for hinged tow bars.

Solutions like Relia® increase lifetimes for wear parts by 3 to 6 times. Fatigue tests of solutions designed with Amstrong® achieve circa 3 times longer lifetimes than the same solution designed with lower strength steel.

Low carbon-emissions steel was a key-topic this year at bauma.
