ArcelorMittal was present at CWIEME 2018 to present its broad range of electrical steels and its engineering services to help its customers to develop the electrical steels of the future.
At CWIEME 2018, ArcelorMittal presented its broad range of steel grades with specific magnetic properties, including:
These magnetic materials are used in domestic appliances, building industry, mechanical engineering, electrical equipment, motors and generators, and of course the automotive industry.
In order to showcase its committment to producing the best electrical steels for the automotive industry with its always renewed iCARe® range, a special virtual reality experience was offered to the visitors. Through a visit of Saint-Chely plant, a virtual race and a short quiz, visitors enjoyed an interactive introduction to our iCARe® range.
High efficiency motors are major components of motor-driven systems. ArcelorMittal’s iCARe® very low loss and high permeability electrical steels allow OEMs to achieve IE4 efficiency levels (and better). This level of efficiency is required by the EU’s Eco-design regulation which will be implemented from 1 January 2022.
Furthermore, to anticipate and respond to our customers' needs, ArcelorMittal research and development teams bring their expertise in high performance electrical steels since 30 years, with dedicated specialists for each aspect of electrical steels: texture, structure, coatings, magnetism, mechanical behaviour including fatigue, punching and machine assembly techniques.
This allows us to develop the next generations of low loss, high permeability electrical steels and optimize the performance of production lines such as our new annealing line of Saint-Chély.
Thanks to in-house developed advanced magnetic characterization equipment, and unique devices such as the annealing process simulator (RAPS), ArcelorMittal research and development helps our customers to optimize the design and the manufacturing of their machines.
Today, ArcelorMittal has 10 major co-engineering and co-design on-going programs with the major producers of high efficiency electrical machines.
