ArcelorMittal produces a number of steels for cold forming which have the strength, rigidity and ductility properties needed for domestic appliances. Uncoated cold rolled steels for cold forming are suitable for food contact applications under certain conditions.
Corrosion protection with blued steels
Blued steels provide protection against corrosion for the parts of domestic appliances which cannot be protected by normal painting or metallic coating processes. The magnetite layer can withstand moderate bending and drawing operations. The sheet surface is very clean and retains its attractive appearance during storage.
Cold rolled thin steels for casings
ArcelorMittal also produces a range of cold rolled thin steels which are used for the manufacture of casing panels for domestic appliances. The weldability of these cold rolled grades using conventional processes is guaranteed. They are also suitable substrates for coatings such as phosphating, painting, electroplating and hot dip galvanisation.
Enamelling with cold rolled grades
For appliances which require enamelling, ArcelorMittal produces a number of cold rolled steel grades for enamelling which are suitable for light and deep drawing. Two-side enamelling is possible using either wet or dry processes.
Fully and semi-processed steels for electrical components
Electrical components of small domestic appliances can be produced using ArcelorMittal’s complete selection of fully and semi-processed steels. Our non-oriented fully processed high permeability electrical steels have guaranteed magnetic properties.
