Eigenschaften
Stähle für Druckbehälter unterscheiden sich von normalen Kohlenstoff-Manganbaustählen durch ihre hohe Druckfestigkeit bei normalen, sehr hohen und sehr niedrigen Temperaturen.
Vorteile
Wichtigstes Charakteristikum dieser Stähle ist ihre hohe Druckfestigkeit bei unterschiedlichen Temperaturen. Diese Sorten verfügen über gute Schweißbarkeit und hohe Kerbschlagzähigkeit. Sie eignen sich für das Normalglühen und Spannungsfreiglühen, bei dem die Verhärtung im Bereich der Schweißnaht wieder ihre ursprünglichen Eigenschaften erhält.
Anwendungen
Diese Stahlsorten werden insbesondere zur Herstellung von Heizkesseln, Dampf- und Druckrohren, industriellen thermischen Behältern und Wärmetauschern eingesetzt. Sie eignen sich zum mechanischen Umformen und Schweißen.

Wenn die Mindestwerte für die Kerbschlagarbeit für verschiedene Temperaturen spezifiziert sind, muss die Brucharbeit – sofern nicht anders vereinbart – bei der Temperatur überprüft werden, für die als Wert 27 J angegeben wird.
Wenn der Mindestwert für die Kerbschlagarbeit bei der niedrigsten Temperatur mehr als 27 J beträgt, muss dieser höhere Wert überprüft werden.
