  • Towards zero energy buildings

ArcelorMittal at Advanced Buiding Skins conference

The 10th Advanced Building Skins Conference was organized from 3 to 4 November 2015 in Bern (Switzerland). The aim of this yearly conference is to contribute to a multidisciplinary, integrated planning approach by architects, engineers, scientists, manufacturers and the building industry to reduce energy consumption of buildings. The event attracts 500 participants from over fifty countries.

One of the main current trends of the industry that was discussed in Bern was how saving resources and improving comfort in buildings (houses, offices, factories,…where we spend more than 90% of our time today), reaching Near Zero Energy Buildings, will considerably impact the design and the material selection in the future. Experts and scientists from the world presented and collected information about latest progress and trends in buildings envelopes, which include façades and roofs applications.

Next to many other companies presenting their materials, systems & solutions, it was the opportunity for ArcelorMittal to demonstrate our engagement and innovativeness for the building construction sector.

Jérôme Guth, from the business development team of ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products, held a speech on “Innovative pre-coated steels for durable, aesthetic and sustainable building skins”.

Durability was illustrated by the performances and guarantee of our Magnelis® and our Granite® offers, aesthetics by our Silky Mat, Impression, Quartz ranges, and sustainability by our Nspired by Nature® and ECCA Premium® labels.

Through ArcelorMittal Europe prepainted steel offers, we show that steel remains a material of choice for building skins for tertiary, industrial or residential buildings. With an offer permanently adjusted to the needs of our customers and final users, ArcelorMittal aims at “Transforming Tomorrow” the building sector!
