The Steel Construction Institute has just published a report (download here) describing the performance of Magnelis® ZM120 coating against corrosion, compared with traditional Z275 coating, applied to cold formed sections used in light steel framing. SCI concludes that Magnelis® ZM120 provides corrosion protection which is not less than the corrosion protection provided by Z275 coating.
This independent review and assessment of SCI included the surface, cut edges, deformed elements and welded tubes, and was based on the results of a large palette of tests including:
The conclusions and recommendations of SCI are:
Magnelis® ZM120 is already widely used to manufacture cable trays and electrical equipment, flooring systems, indoor ventilation equipment, metallic furniture, ceilings, walls and partitions, racking systems, profiled members, opened and closed profiles...
Replacing galvanised steel with Magnelis® significantly reduces the environmental footprint of manufactured products thanks to
In comparison with galvanised steel, Magnelis® offers additional benefits during profiling & bending, forming operations, welding and cutting.
Magnelis® is produced in several ArcelorMittal mills, available worldwide with dedicated and optimised service offers in each region.
