Aerosol monobloc bodies

Product advice on steels to be used for:
Important specification
  • Low anisotropy
  • Ironing ability
  • Necking ability
Recommendation

Steel is the ideal material for aerosol cans. For 2-piece (2P) or monoblock aerosols, pressure resistance is provided by the bottom. Pressure resistance comes from a combination of the steel’s thickness and hardness.

As ironing and necking steps are required, hard grades cannot be used. In this case, soft grades are required.

Metallic coating: Tin coating (ECCS is not suitable for ironing). A differential tin coating with a higher tin coating rate outside the can is recommended for the ironing step. Passivation 311 is the most widely used but Passivation 300 is possible if improved wettability is required.
