Lifting equipment manufacturers, whether it is cranes, aerial platforms, telescopic handlers, are constantly seeking to improve the performance of their machines while maintaining high safety standards.
A major challenge is combing the long outreach and high load capacity with either the machine’s weight-per-axle limitations or total gross weight. This can be resolved with ultra high strength steels (UHSS) in lower thickness, and by adapting the geometry of the telescopic booms.
ArcelorMittal has developed a range of products to meet this challenge. Our Amstrong® ultra high strength low alloy grades are available in strengths up to 700 MPa. These thermo mechanically rolled steel grades are available in sheets up to 2,000 mm wide (Amstrong® Ultra 700MC).
