Light steel framing

Cold-formed steel profiles are important components of building structures. These profiles are commonly used to design primary or secondary structures to support floors, roofs & facades elements in the form of purlins, rails & deckings. They distribute the various loads from the building envelope to the main frame and the foundations.

They are also used in other structural applications such as silos & tanks, conventional or high-bay racks and solar mounting systems.

For all these applications, we recommend our range of metallic coated high strength steels (HSS), available in two standard families: high strength low alloy (HSLA) grades or steels for construction grades including our HyPer steel grades fulfilling the ductility requirements of the Eurocode 3. These steels enable building owners to construct safe and cost-effective buildings. Indeed, even at a slightly higher cost, these grades allow to design more effective structures and save weight thus reducing the overall cost of each project.

Furthermore, reducing weight and material quantities thanks to high strength steels is a strong and immediate lever to reduce the environmental footprint of steel structures.

When protected by Magnelis® coating, our HSS resist against corrosion three times better than traditional galvanised steels.

Last but not least, our efforts in reducing our CO2 footprint at steel manufacturing stage, translated into our Xcarb® certificates for scope 3 emissions, as well as the high rate of recycling of steel, reinforce the long-term sustainability of these solutions.
